Radio Frequency

Skin tightening, Contouring and Lifting

Radio-Frequency (RF) energy is a form of electromagnetic energy ranging from 300MHz to 3kHz. Radio-frequency has been used surgically for over 50 years for coagulation. It became popular in cosmetic medicine around the year 2000 and since has grown to be the gold standard non-surgical solution in skin tightening and tissue rejuvenation. Many practices, medspa, and doctor's clinics choose to use RF-based treatments. Radio-frequency is color blind, meaning that the target or chromophore is not melanin.

How thermal energy created?

When the skin conducts electrical current, it causes the ions in the tissue to collide. This action creates kinetic energy. This kinetic energy is transformed into thermal energy in the skin, meaning heat.

The heat causes micro-controlled damage to the skin tissue, mainly the dermis, and the damage triggers the healing mechanism of the skin.

The result of this is the renewal and regeneration of the damaged tissue, namely the synthesis of collagen and elastin fibers. Radio-frequency is a proven research-based technology for collagen and elastin production; once the healing occurs, the moisture levels of the skin improve simultaneously.

Radiofrequency is safe for all skin types.

Patients can go about their usual routines and they can even apply makeup immediately following a facial treatment.
